The definition above is the way Webster defines genealogy. I personally love the study of genealogy and find it to be a very rewarding hobby and more than just family history. It includes the study of people, habits and most importantly the history of people and the mark they left on society during the time of their lives. It is a snap shot of our past and sometimes our future. The facts and information you discover along the way to discovering your family genealogy will amaze and astound you. Sometimes you will even stumble onto pieces of information that you wish you had not uncovered. All in all you will never be disappointed with the results.

I have been working on my family history for over twenty years and seem never to have enough time to devote to it. I started in the days of pen and paper and then, thank God made it digital on a PC. I look back and wonder how we ever did it without the PC. When the World Wide Web came along it opened the horizons as to the amount of information you can access. It cut years and miles off of the research. As far as PC software I have tried many but found Family Tree Maker to be one of the best. Don’t know where to start? If interested here is their website.
